About Heydao
A new city
should not feel empty.
About us
I am Heydao’s founder, and I have independently taken the product from concept through design, development and operations. I first arrived in Vancouver in 2013. Since then, I have known both the excitement of rebuilding a life in an unfamiliar city and the many goodbyes caused by graduation, work, time and distance. People who once felt close became names checked on occasionally, and every change of environment meant learning again how to meet someone—and how to say, “want to do this together?”
Life keeps moving faster while our free time becomes more fragmented. Loneliness often does not mean nobody is nearby. It means that when you suddenly want a drink, a walk, a song, or simply someone to talk to, familiar people are unavailable and new relationships have not begun yet.
That is why I wanted to build Heydao: so a young person abroad, newly arrived in a city, or caught in a lonely moment does not have to spend months building a connection or postpone life until next week. Open Heydao and see that someone in the same city wants the same thing now. An impromptu meeting can belong only to tonight—or become the first person who makes an unfamiliar city feel shared.
